We will work with you to identify the symptoms that are most impacting you, with an aim to complement the medical interventions already offered via the medical and nursing services supporting you.

Symptoms can be physical, such as pain, breathlessness or fatigue; psychological, such as anxiety, frustration or low mood; spiritual or practical. A member of the therapy team will work with you to find ways to manage these symptoms through one-to-one support, coaching and group sessions. We work closely with colleagues in complementary therapy and chaplaincy in offering wider support.

Our current symptom management groups are:

Breathlessness Management:

3 sessions exploring the different ways that breathlessness can affect quality of life. We aim to teach medication-free strategies to control breathlessness and manage anxiety. We encourage a family member to attend also.

Active thinking:

A 4 week programme exploring what anxiety is, how it can affect us and what can be done to improve things. The programme allows time to spend practicing the different coping strategies.
