At the Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House, our philosophy is to provide holistic care that recognises the effect of illness on every aspect of life for the patient and their family – physical, emotional, social and spiritual.

Our family support social worker is a key member of the clinical team, involved in the assessment and provision of care for people with the illness and their family members.

Social and emotional care provides opportunities for patients and those close to them to express their feelings, think about the decisions that they may need to make, talk about the problems and ask questions about aspects of their illness, treatment and future care.

Our family support social worker may provide individual support for the patient or family member, group support through the monthly Carers’ meeting, advice about financial help available in benefits or grants, information about specific illnesses and will help people to gain access to other sources of support, practical or emotional.
