A special way to remember a loved one. An invitation to give support to your local Hospice by making a donation as a dedication to a friend or relative.

‘Light up a Life’ is an opportunity, in the lead up to all the activity of the Christmas period, for people to pause and to spend some time being still with precious memories of loved ones, to light a candle and to reflect. The names of all those who we remember will be entered into our book of remembrance.

It is also an opportunity for people who are touched by the work of the Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House to make a donation in support of the work of the Hospice. Any donation that you make in the memory of a loved one will help the Hospice to continue its care for those with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Janet's story

‘Light up a Life’ has become an important part of many people’s year. One of our services last year became something important for Janet in her first Christmas without Ken.

Lighting a candle 'The Light up a Life service is a positive way to go into the difficult Christmas period without Ken, knowing that although he will not be with us we will be thinking of him

‘I went to the Light up a Life service in Fakenham Parish Church last year. As part of the service there is a ‘special time to remember’ by inviting people to light a candle to remember a loved one who has died.

'I found this a very emotional experience, not only remembering Ken and how he would be missing from our family Christmas for the first time and how difficult that was going to be but also knowing that he was at peace and free from his illness. It was also comforting to know that there were other people there, remembering their loved ones and that it felt okay to be upset. The service is another part of the help and support given by the Hospice staff to the bereaved’.
