5 X Tri Challenge

Kevin Graves of the Sports Department at the College of West Anglia was to have attempted this awesome physical challenge single handed.
Now, as he faces up to the challenge of a cancer diagnosis, his students are stepping up to the plate ready to do an equivalent physical challenge in his place.

Kevin was to have plunged  into The Wash at Old Hunstanton in July this year, ready to swim across to Gibraltar Point in Lincolnshire - a distance of 11 miles. Once ashore he was to mount a cycle and ride 115 miles to Cromer, and then swap his cycle shoes for trainers and run the Peddars Way from Cromer to Hunstanton - a distance of 46 miles.

Kevin says: "The students will work together to complete the distances that I would have covered. The relay swim will be held in a swimming pool (11 miles), the cycle mileage covered on exercise bikes (116 miles) , and the run will be completed on Lynnsport’s running track (46 miles).
The event is scheduled for June 2012 and all funds raised will go to The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House. You can make donations via my justgiving website:
http://www.justgiving.com/5XTRI-CHALLENGE
and you can contact The Sport Department at COWA on 01553 815277 "

The total distance covered in an Olympic triathlon (32.2 miles) is one fifth of the distance covered in during this demanding challenge (172 miles) - that's why Kevin has named it the 5 X Tri Challenge.

You can sponsor Kevin safely by using his JustGiving page, or for more information contact Amanda Standen in the Fundraising Office on 01485 542891 or amanda.standen@norfolkhospice.org.uk.
