Volunteering is a highly rewarding experience: there is a sense of fulfilment and personal achievement that comes from contributing to the community.
We need people with a passion for helping others and who have some spare time on their hands. Any volunteer can give as much or as little time as they like. We have many who help on a weekly basis and many others who help once or twice a year; all are valued equally for what time they can give us.
The full list of the many roles that our Volunteers can fill are shownat the foot of this page. At present we need help particularly in our Fundraising Support and Catering Department, but whatever your skills or interests, please do get in touch to discuss the opportunities we have for you.
Our Fundraising Volunteers are crucial to the work of the Hospice. Without them our clinical services would not be expanding. They help with general administration in the office, as well as providing help at our centrally organised events, which take place throughout the year. They also assist with collecting and replacing our collection boxes at the many locations in the area.
We pride ourselves on providing tasty and nutritious food for our patients at the Hospice. To do this effectively we need the support of Catering Volunteers to help with general kitchen duties, keeping the kitchen clean and tidy and basic food preparation work. Good food in a welcoming environment is part of the service we provide. We aim to provide suitable Volunteers with the Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 qualification.
