What's happening News "Country Bumpkin" talks raise funds for Hospice Peter Thorpe first heard of the Hospice during his 38 year career at the Stradsett Estate where he often worked in the company of Sir Jeremy Bagge. After the death of his daughter, Becky, in 2010, Peter and his wife Jane decided to start fundraising for the Hospice in memory of Becky, who had started raising funds at the Compasses pub in Snettisham. They planned a series of Bingo's and raised almost £1,500 for the Hospice during 2010 and 2011. Unfortunately, Jane had a fall in 2012 which left her confined to a wheelchair and limited the use of her right arm, so fundraising had to be put on hold for a while. Another Bingo was organised in 2014 for the Hospice Capital Appeal raising over £1,000. After retiring in 2015 from the Stradsett Estate, Peter brought back to life an idea which was planted in his head some years ago to take up public speaking. From this idea, the Country Bumpkin was born and a selection of talks and slides were produced. Peter has raised £430 for the Hospice from the talks. Unfortunately, Jane passed away recently and Peter kindly chose the Hospice to benefit from a collection at her funeral. He recently presented a cheque for £600 to our chairman, Patricia Broke, following the collection at Jane's funeral and a number of 'Country Bumpkin' talks during 2016 and 2017.
