What's happening News Lanterns light the way for local hospice On Friday, 8th June, 150 hospice supporters came together to walk in memory of loved ones that they have lost during The Norfolk Hospice’s very first Lantern Walk. The 3km walk, was held at The Walks, Kings Lynn started at dusk and walkers were given a lantern to light the way along the route, in celebration of the life of the person or people they were remembering. The Lantern Walk, which was organised in conjunction with Kings Lynn Borough Council was also kindly been sponsored by SFK Cooper, long standing supporters of the Hospice. As well as the lantern lit walk, participants were entertained by ‘Simply Sing’ – King’s Lynn Community Choir whilst Ben Norris, daytime presenter from KLFM also attended. The hospice would also like to thank the 22 volunteers who gave up their time to help marshal the walk and register the walkers as the event would not have been possible without them. Donations are still coming in but so far the hospice has raised nearly £3350 from the event. Lindsey Atkin, Community Fundraising Manager at the Hospice said, We were blown away by the success of our first ever Lantern Walk. To see so many people come together in such a poignant display of remembrance was wonderful and we are excited to develop this event further in 2019.
