  1. Butterfly Meadow

Butterfly Meadow

This summer, hundreds of steel blue butterflies will be installed in the gardens of Sandringham House in a collaborative project with The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House and the royal Sandringham Estate during the Platinum Jubilee year.

The butterflies are a beautiful way to remember someone special to you and commemorate their life. They may have been cared for by The Norfolk Hospice, they might have been lost to Covid-19, or they may simply be someone very special to you. For a suggested donation of £25, you will be able to dedicate and keep a butterfly.

The butterflies will be lovingly crafted by Nigel Barnett of Fransham Forge and painted blue in the style of the Silver-studded Blue butterfly, a species which can be found in Norfolk. The butterfly will be affixed to a steel pole so they can be easily planted in the ground and they will measure approximately six inches wide and three-foot-high.

Please note the butterflies will not be personalised or inscribed.

(Pictured is a prototype of the butterfly, your butterfly may look different)

The Butterfly Meadow will be installed in the peaceful gardens of Sandringham House from July 16th and the display will be open to visitors until 1st September.

Please see the Sandringham website for visiting information.

Please note that there are entry fees for the gardens. The gardens are also closed on certain days.

After the installation closes in September, your butterfly will be available for collection from The Norfolk Hospice. You can take yours home for your own garden display or to gift on to a loved one. We will announce the dates for collection nearer the time.

This is the perfect way to support your local hospice and have a lasting memory. 100% of the proceeds raised will benefit The Norfolk Hospice.

The suggested donation is £25 per butterfly. Please note that for each donation made you will receive one butterfly. If you would like more than one, please do separate donations for each butterfly you require.

If you'd prefer to order by phone, please call 01485 601701. Our lines are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

With special thanks to the Sandringham Estate and Nigel Barnett of Fransham Forge.
