Latest Coronavirus (Covid-19) Information

Please read our guidance before visiting The Norfolk Hospice. Our patients and clients are particularly vulnerable, and your understanding is appreciated. The senior management team have been regularly reviewing the latest government advice around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

We want to make sure that our hospice remains a safe space for service users, staff, volunteers and visitors to the hospice. Our patients - especially those on our inpatient unit - are a particularly vulnerable group to any additional infections.

VISITOR RESTRICTIONS - INPATIENT UNIT

We understand that during this difficult time this is hard for you and your family, we want to reassure you that our staff will be caring for your loved one, ensuring that they are not alone.

Please wear a mask when visiting the Inpatient Unit.

Please do not visit if you or anyone in your family have symptoms of COVID-19, or have tested positive for COVID-19, until you no longer have symptoms (after a minimum of 5 days).

Whilst visiting your loved one we will ask you to maintain social or spatial distancing when a member of staff enters the room, and we may ask you to step out of the room for a short period. 

You must adhere to strict hand washing when entering the building, your loved one’s room, upon leaving and when you get home.

We recognise that human touch is so important so, if you do touch your loved one, then please wash your hands before and as soon as possible afterwards.

Staff will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure that they can keep the patients, visitors and themselves as safe as possible.

Well behaved pets may visit but must remain in the room.

Visitors are asked to remain in the loved one’s room at all times.

We are sorry that the restaurant is out of use until further notice.

Please ask a member of staff for drinks at any time during your visit, by ringing the call bell.

We have a supply of iPads that can be loaned to the patient free of charge, this will enable you to communicate using digital applications. A member of staff can help set this up.

DAY THERAPY AND FAMILY SUPPORT

Please be aware that due to COVID-19 we have put the below measures in place, in order to keep yourself and our staff safe.

• Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your appointment starts, if you do arrive slightly earlier than this, we kindly ask you to wait in your car until 5 minutes before your appointment start time. This is in order to maintain social distancing and the flow of appointments through the Hospice building.
• On entry, our reception team will ask you questions relating to COVID-19.
• Please wear a mask.
• Please sanitise your hands at our stations on entry to the Hospice and at regular intervals throughout your visit.
• Please be aware that rooms will be ventilated and windows open throughout your appointment; with this in mind, it may be useful to bring layers so you don’t get cold.
• Please observe social distancing guidance of 2m throughout your visit, rooms will be set up to ensure this is followed.
• Please note there may be one-way systems in place to support the flow of people maintaining social distancing in communal areas. The person you are meeting will assist you with this.
