David and JustinWhen the London Marathon was unfortunately postponed in April due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was a big blow for many charities all over the country. Thankfully however, it was later announced that a virtual marathon will take its place for 2020 – and it was open to everyone!

We had five runners representing us in the virtual London Marathon on Sunday 4th October 2020.

Congratulations and a big thank you to Gemma, Phil, David, Justin and Lisa for all of your hard work preparing for the gruelling 26-mile trek – not helped by the wet weather on the day!

“I only decided to sign up for the virtual London Marathon 4 weeks before the day with 2 amazing friends. So we didn’t have much time to train! Although we regularly run 7 - 10 miles, we had never done any more than a half marathon. We decided to walk/run it, which we did taking 8 hours and 42 minutes. It was not the best weather for running, very windy and rainy and cold, especially as we chose a route over trails, fields and woodland.

“Tapping House helped my Dad, Bob French, 10 years ago when he had Motor Neurone Disease. You collected him once a week and to give my Mum some respite and he enjoyed his days with you. My Mum always tried to support your charity while she was alive so I was more than happy to do my little bit to help.”

Thank you all for representing The Norfolk Hospice for the virtual London Marathon. We really appreciate all of your hard work and support.
