You will meet new people and make new friends across our Retail division, whilst helping The Norfolk Hospice provide outstanding care for local people living with life-shortening conditions. This role would suit people looking to get back into work after a career break, retired, semi-retired, and those not employed alike. You will be providing invaluable help with the running of the Warehouse, either by supporting the drivers by loading up deliveries and being on the vans to pick up/deliver larger items including furniture and bags of goods or getting involved in making good and upcycling some items ready for sale. You might even be able to help make sure the electrical items we have for sale are safe to use. It would be great if you could make a regular commitment for the hours that you are happy to attend, this would preferably be a four hour shift per week in the Warehouse or a day if going out on the vans. Full training and support will be given. Key Duties include Preparing deliveries for shops including loading vans. Heavy lifting may be involved and you'll do Moving and Handling training as part of your Volunteer Induction. Supporting the driver on the vans in picking up donated items and delivering customer purchases - furniture, electrical items, bric-a-brac and clothing. Sorting and distributing stock. Organising stock so that the storage and working area is kept tidy and in order. Making sure all stock is safe and in working order. Upcycling furniture items. Disposal of unwanted items. Meeting people making donations, accepting and thanking them. Promoting the Gift Aid scheme to increase the value of sales (extra 25p for each £1). Assisting with general cleaning of warehouse and associated areas.
