We sell a huge range of electrical goods in our retail stores and online....and we get lots of new donations all the time. So we're looking for someone who has a PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) qualification and can carry out appropriate tests on electrical items - making sure they're safe and ready for sale.

The hospice makes a lot of money from the sale of donated items. But we must be sure electrical appliances are safe to use and attractive to buyers, so if you've the right qualification and have some time to spare this will help us enormously. You'll need to be able to spend a few hours a week doing this, on days that suit you - we need help Monday to Thursday in particular.

The store has its own PAT testing equipment so you don’t need to bring your own.

What you'll be doing

  • checking appliances are working correctly and meet PAT safe standards
  • accurately recording and labelling tested appliances
  • cleaning and presenting appliances to a high standard, so they're attractive to buyers

One of our stores already has help from a volunteer PAT tester - read Brian's story to see if this role would suit you too.
