Meet Mike - and hear how he came to be an enthusiastic volunteer at our newest superstore

My first job was as a junior clerk at a fruit merchant's in Wisbech. Then I did various office jobs before joining a small supermarket as a trainee manager - going on to other management roles, and then becoming a buyer. At one time I had responsibility for buying toys, cookshop items, gardening goods and stationery for 27 shops. The job took me to China, Frankfurt and Vietnam as well as shows throughout the UK.

After seeing care volunteers in a similar organisation, I felt I wanted to do something worthwhile with my spare time - with my years of experience in retail, volunteering at one of the Hospice's shops made sense. I get to work with a great team, meet new people and keep active too!
