The hospice is a highly regarded local, independent charity that delivers excellent end of life care and bereavement services to our community. We're lucky enough to have a purpose built facility that offers both Inpatient and Outpatient services alongside care in the home. We cover a large geographical area from the Fens to the North Norfolk Coast, and across to Fakenham, Swaffham, Downham Market and the bordering areas.

Our services are partially funded through the Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board but approximately 70% of our income is generated from our diverse income streams which include community fundraising events, retail, lottery and legacy giving.

Becoming a Trustee offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development and is highly rewarding. You will be part of a team of skilled people who are passionate about giving up their own time for the benefit of others. Full induction will be provided and, while the role itself is voluntary, you may be reimbursed for any reasonable expenses incurred in connection with your role.

Our trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation, its financial health and the quality, safety and integrity of its activities in accordance with our governing documents and legal and regulatory guidelines. Trustees work closely with our Senior Leadership Team and play a valuable role in the development and sustainability of our services.

We're looking for an individual who shares our passion and drive for outstanding palliative and end of life care and is willing to contribute their knowledge, skills and experience in support of our wide ranging services - and we're particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have any of the following skills, attributes or experience:

·         Accountancy and Finance

·         Clinical Commissioning

·         NHS Contracts

We're committed to equality, diversity and inclusion for our patients and their families, colleagues, volunteers, trustees and supporters. We value the strength that comes with difference and the positive contribution that diversity brings to our community. We're working to increase diversity and would particularly welcome applications from groups that are currently under-represented, including those from a Black and Minority Ethnic background.

Applicants must be able to attend a minimum of three Board meetings each year. Trustees are encouraged to join one of the sub-committees, which also meet four times a year. The sub-committees are Finance & Income Generation and Care & Clinical Governance. Trustees are also expected to engage with colleagues in a variety of activities and are encouraged to represent the charity at public events and take an active part in promotional activities.
